Profile Brian Deegan began motocross riding when a neighbor introduced him to racing at the age of eight and he began competing at age 10. Deegan has the most Medals in ESPN X Games History. He added one more gold to his resume this summer where he became the first rider to land a Backflip 360 dubbed the ‘Mulisha Twist’. Brian is one of the only Freestylers to win a Supercross event (L.A. 1997, 125cc) and ghost rode his bike across the finish line.
Three things you should know about Brian:
1. Has broken his back, wrist, arms, ankle and ribs
2. Only rides with members of the Metal Mulisha
3. He likes travelling so that he can see how other cultures live
Profile:
Freestyle motocross pioneer, Brian Deegan was born in Nebraska in '75 and began racing dirtbikes at eight years old. He had a natural talent for riding and went on to win the 125 Supercross in 97 at the L.A Colliseum, ghost riding his bike over the finish to the dismay of the authorities!
Through the compulsion to have fun, cause havoc and avoid the politics, Deegan found himself drifting from racing and starting up the freestyle motocross revolution.
Describing jumps as 'petty' if they are less than 150ft long, the mastermind of the Metal Mulisha lives the rock star lifestyle he always craved. With bare-knuckle fights, chicks and wild parties, Deegan inhabits the secret Mulisha compound in the heart of the Californian desert, where he nails backflips and Mulisha Airs on a daily basis.
Holding the most medals in X Games history and being notorious for inventing countless tricks, he thrives on madness, maintaining that "In freestyle you can be whoever you want to be”.
